Not drowning, just learning

I love the ocean and rivers - the rhythm of the waves, the refreshing sweetness of river water. But growing up, I almost drowned maybe three or four times. Those experiences definitely left me with a deep respect for water.

It's interesting because I wouldn't say I'm scared of it. It's not a phobia. I don't panic when I see the sea, I don't break into a cold sweat when I get in the water. I just know my limits - how long to stay in, how far to go, and when to step back. Always with caution.

floating

Right now, I'm learning to swim, slowly and without pressure. Thankfully, I've figured out how to float in saltwater - turns out it's way easier than I thought. It gives me a bit of a plan B, just in case something ever goes wrong and I end up far from shore.
