Hey there 👋

My name is Melvin Salas. I was born and raised in Costa Rica.

I never thought I would leave my country, especially later in life, but thanks to a series of circumstances, I started my journey as an immigrant across Europe in 2022, and I’m still on that journey. I currently live in Spain, and I’m still not entirely sure where I’ll end up in the future.

I can say that I love trains, while flying is pretty much the opposite. I really don’t enjoy it. Even so, I’ve traveled quite a bit, and because of that I created a space called /photos, a growing album where I share the places I’ve visited. Feel free to browse the whole gallery, the list, or the map, which I think looks pretty cool and took me quite a while to set up.

This is my little corner of the internet. I’ve been faithfully paying for this domain every year since 2010, and over the years it has been home to several different projects. Right now, it’s a blog written in Markdown files, built with Astro, and hosted on Cloudflare. That means I have to take care of pretty much everything myself, but it also gives me the flexibility I want. It’s work, but I treat it as a hobby.

Here you’ll find things I like and want to share with the world, split into a few sections. I’ve already mentioned the first one. The second is a /blog where I write about a bit of everything, and the newest section is just for /code, where I’ll be more specific about programming related things, because I’ve been a programmer for quite a while now.
